STEVE RODGERS IN A DIFFERENT OUTFIT
It is said that Ryan had initially planned an outfit for Steve Rodgers which was worn by recurring captain America’s half friend and foe. One of the main contrasts between the present and initially planned outfits is in terms of colors. The initial outfit for Captain America was planned to have less blue shades and more black ones. Moreover, across the torso, the outfit was supposed to have some stars and striped linings too. Nevertheless, the new outfit for Captain America is not bad at all. In fact, it has more of a heroic feel that would not have been possessed by any other costume.
THE EARLY DESIGN INSPIRES THE NEW LOOK
Ryan Meinerding, while talking about the outfit, said it is directly inspired by the initial idea. He said that since Captain America was more clandestine, a secret look came about for him. Not being a part of a larger Avengers group demanded him to be wearing more black. Ryan said it was about the same time when US agent stuff came out. Captain America could be wearing a red and blue costume and the directors would see if there’s something good in that.
There were some rumors about Evan’s role to be altered after the events of the civil war. It was being said that he will be turned into ego nomad but the movie makers later refuted the idea. Another rumor hinted at Steve Rodgers using an altered persona after Captain Mantle was dropped in comics.
THE COSTUME TOOK A LONG TIME
Ryan talked about costume taking a long time because of inserting some iconic cap into the outfit. Kevin did not want Chris Evans’s costume to have a superhero feel the whole movie. Therefore the team spent a good deal of time searching for something that’s good both for a US agent as well as for a Nomad.
Ryan Meinerding truly did justice to Evan’s costume. The Captain America leather jacket would have been looked way darker if they had opted for the initial one, the heroic-feels that the new outfit is giving is just the right amount of class needed in this costume.
