No matter how much immense is the love we all have for the superhero movies, their reputation is about to fall in to an extreme peril especially since hundreds of them are being introduced each year with all having similar themes. It was not very long ago that a movie with a female superhero saving lives and fighting evil in those Burgundy Winter Coats was released. Now, another such superhero TV series is going to set our screens on fire which will be casting the first ever Trans Super Hero in the TV history.
The role will be portrayed by famed transgender activist and actress, Nicole Maines, who is a trans-woman herself. Nicole will be playing the role of Nia Nall, TV’s first trans-superhero on CW’s Super girl the fourth season of which is about to come. Expressing her emotions about being the first ever TV’s trans superhero, Nicole stated that her hopes to impact the trans communities in a positive way through this show are higher than ever. She appreciated the fact that our society is moving on from only taking super heroes as a man who jumps from buildings and save women along with flaunting one of those Collar Jackets Men’s style.
Nicole, in an interview, said that this all is very surprising yet joyful to her. Only being a fan of superheroes, she never had imagined being one herself and this all still feels unreal to her. Upon expressing her sentiments about the kind of love and appreciation she has received from all across the region so far, Nicole Maines said that “it is a mixture of pride and of excitement”.
When asked about if she ever felt that she has a huge responsibility on her shoulders in terms of carrying the weight of the whole trans community, Nicole confidently stated that being an activist and spokesperson of trans community there has always been an overwhelming amount of responsibility on her shoulders. She said that each time someone from our community gets represented on the TV, the burden gets lesser however, there is still have a long way to go so as to finally feel relaxed.
Stating her concerns about trans representation in Hollywood, Nicole said that it is no more a secret that Trans roles in our movies, dramas, seasons, and every other such medium is always portrayed by some cisgender actor or actress. She said that such a practice has been crushing the transgender community since people keep on identifying transgender and cisgenders as same which is kind of insulting and hurtful to us. She aimed that her role as Nia gives confidence to trans-kids all around the world that “they can be anything they want to be”.
Nicole is very pleased that her role will also help take the pressure on other trans women to look pretty all the time back. She says that this is about time we all stop thinking about women as someone whose only job is to look pretty. We have to prove that women can look perfect in their Stylish Jackets women’s trend and can be a superhero at the same time.
