4 OF HOLLYWOOD’S REVOLUTIONARY WOMEN SUPERHEROES THAT WOMEN NEED TO KNOW

Apart from the never-ending feud between the fans of Marvel and DC Comics – an innate attempt to classify which one’s better and why – we forgot to notice one major constant in cinematic Hollywood. While comics are mostly male-dominated, we are utterly thankful for female characters to grace our screens with their appearance.

Marvel and DC Comics, both, have featured utterly dominant female heroines from time to time. Since Halloween is pretty much near, we would be guessing that you’d need to dress up as your favourite super-heroines and turn to stores where they keep movie costumes for sale. Mentioned below are some of our favourite women superheroes that we adore and get inspiration from.

ALICIA SILVERSTONE AS BATGIRL

Alicia Silverstone

We remember seeing Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl in the 1997 adaptation of the classic, ‘Batman and Robin’, and getting all excited as we gawked at her incredible superhero costume. As if there wasn’t enough inspiration to take from Batman himself, DC Comics succeeded in introducing Batgirl as the maestro’s counterpart in 1961.

As Batgirl, Alicia Silverstone gave us fans a lot to cherish about. This role was completely different from her role in the classic chick flick, ‘Clueless’, but Hollywood never fails to surprise us.

 HALLE BERRY AS STORM

Halle Berry

Before we start commenting over Halle Berry’s grace and poise as Storm, let us give you a little background knowledge regarding her character in Marvel’s biggest movie franchise. Storm is one of X-Men’s most powerful mutants and combines the powers of the Typhoon and Black Cat altogether. Her all-black leather costume also helped to do justice to her character, not to mention Storm’s raging silver hair.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON AS THE BLACK WIDOW

Everybody, including men and women alike, is a fan of the fiery-red Black Widow as portrayed by Scarlett Johansson in the Marvel classic, ‘The Avengers’. Nothing beats seeing Scarlett Johansson clad in an all bodysuit made out of leather in a motion picture that might last for about 2 hours or more in the future.

Since there is a lot of role-playing going on, we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw an eager male fan cladding a black leather jacket men’s to do justice to the character of the Black Widow on Halloween.

ANNE HATHAWAY AS CARWOMAN

Anne Hathaway

Played by Anne Hathaway in the global blockbuster, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, Catwoman is apparently Batman’s nemesis. Played by Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer in the past, Catwoman, Gotham City’s very own notorious cat burglar, isn’t just a character that we’d flip in our comics. Anne Hathaway’s portrayal as Catwoman is probably one of the biggest landmarks of her career, and we can’t stop gushing over the once unkempt princess from the chick flick series ‘Princess Diaries’ and her evolution to Gotham City’s most wanted super-villain.

Apart from cladding women superheroes in all-leather outfits, Hollywood also takes the effort to clad its male hero counterparts in leather jackets for men’s in order to provide its fans the true essence of watching a superhero fight for glory.

  1. Among these superwomen, Scarlet Johansson portrays the strongest character, and, perhaps has portrayed a super character more than any other Hollywood actress. Not to mention, but my younger sister is in love with the Scarlet Johanson Jacket that the redhead girl can be seen wearing in Captain America: Civil War.
